Mainly because people have done exactly that, and overwhelmed our allotted daily bandwidth. When that happens, EVERYTHING on my account goes away until the next morning...And that includes my own sites and the FTP I use for transferring clients' files for work.

If anyone knows of any active seeds/DL locations, we can always post BT/RS/MU/emule links up there...

Okay, so why don't we find some other way to handle this?

BT is never an option unless you have dedicated seeders. Seeds get lost and servers go down over the years. It's a great idea, but it can never be more than a short term solution.

Why not just block Russian IP addresses from downloading it?

Well, although a combination of letters and numbers is clearly the most secure, just try only letters at first.. I guess.

Did you use one of the things D or I sent you, or did you make your own? Why not try using the original set (ledin, baldea)?

Basically, I did this:

I went to the site I posted (http://www.clockwatchers.com/htaccess_tool.html) and scrolled to the bottom, then input the paired name "ledin" and the password "baldea".

According to the output on the next page, the htpasswd file should read:

- No uploading (I edited it directly on the server via a web interface)

- Permissions have never changed, AFAIK

- Will look at htaccess

edit:

- encoding for both htaccess and htpasswd is unicode-8

- permissions for htpasswd say -rw-r--r--    --- this contains only one line

- permissions for htaccess say -rwxrwxrwx   --- this appears to be a generic file setup by the pmwiki installer itself; it's maybe a dozen lines, nothing but how to handle ReWrite requests

- I am considered the Owner for permissions purposes on these files

- Argh.

I would not like to have .htaccess with all those permissions.

Depending on the group it belongs to, I think it should be -rw-rw-r-- or -rw-r--r--

OK. I fixed this again. Let me post a complete guide to what's happening so EricKei has it for future reference:

IF YOU GET A BAD PASSWORD ERROR ...

This means there is a formatting error in /elsallia.com/.htpasswd or you are using an account that doesn't exist in it. Check carefully and edit accordingly.

Problem fixed.

IF YOU ARE GETTING AN ERROR 500 ...

The server is not finding the .htpasswd file. This means Servage somehow moved the account to another machine during maintainer. To fix this, we need to update where to find the .htpasswd file.

Open http://elsallia.com/fuckservage.php

Copy and paste the path this tells you into the first line in /elsallia.com/.htaccess

Problem fixed.

So I can't IZZLE some of the downlordz.

If by IZZLE I mean:

(1) The Langrisser II soundtrack, tracks 3-5 have bad clicking from a scratch on the source CD
(2) How do I change .cdz back into .iso? Seems like nothing in the entire universe can run .cdz so I'm having a hard time understanding why people would bother compressing them beyond using .zip.
